Street Stories: Digital Animations from the Sidewalks of Long Beach
ALOT Initiative, Long Beach, CA – Supported by the National Endowment for the Arts

Over several months, I embedded myself within the street worker and small business communities of central Long Beach. Through sustained engagement—documenting, participating, and collaborating—I developed personal relationships and gathered stories using analog art practices such as drawing and photography.

From these interactions, I created a series of digital animations representing individual workers’ lives and contributions. Each participant received a copy of their own animation—an acknowledgment of their story and a tangible piece of art honoring their experience.

The final works were projected in disused parking lots and "implicated spaces" throughout the city—public sites often overlooked or underutilized—transforming them into spaces of visibility, reflection, and community engagement.
