Unplugged Performances — Mobile Art Intervention
A collaborative public art initiative developed in direct response to the North Long Beach community’s call for creative expression in everyday life. The project brought poetry, spoken word, and live, unamplified performance into the transit spaces of Long Beach, transforming buses and bus stops into sites of cultural encounter.
Over the course of the project, I curated, organized, and promoted seven live performances between 6021 Shopfront, the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library, and Long Beach Transit routes. Performers—ranging from local residents to nationally recognized artists, both amateur and professional—volunteered their time to engage diverse, mobile audiences.
By reimagining public transit as a platform for dialogue and visibility, Unplugged Performances turned daily commutes into unexpected moments of artistic exchange.
