Unplugged Performances — Mobile Art Intervention
Unplugged Performances was a collaborative project between 6021 Shopfront, the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library, and Long Beach Transit. Developed in direct response to the North Long Beach community’s call for public creative expression, the project brought poetry, spoken word, and live performance directly into the everyday spaces of public transit.
Over the course of the initiative, I curated, organized, and promoted seven live, unamplified performances that took place on Long Beach Transit buses and at surrounding bus stops. The performers—ranging from local residents to nationally recognized artists, both amateur and professional—volunteered their time and talent to connect with diverse, mobile audiences.
This public art project transformed the daily commute into a cultural experience, using transit spaces as unconventional stages for artistic exchange, dialogue, and visibility.
